Hi Miker,
I'm wanting to create a press release for the documentary I'm just finishing off. I know you did one for Crooked Features. Do you have any tips you could give me? Cheers

Are you looking for a stock press release that you can give to anyone or something for a single publication??
If you are looking to write a story about what you are doing for a paper then just do the standard...
Who??
What??
When??
Where??
Why/How??

Brevity is best--At least I think so.
Good Luck

I did create some EPK gubbins which you can find here:

As for press releases I stuck out there, just google for "crooked-features prweb"
I have to say I'm too busy for my own good, and haven't capitalised on publicity as much as I could have (such as doing a TV interview --- being z-list means they won't fit around your schedule). Probably my crowning achievement was getting CF mentioned in Screen International as part of their DIY filmmaker season.
Just make it news. Ask yourself "why would anyone give fuck". Try to align it with current events, then give your angle. Polarise people. It's not easy though, and being objective is tough.
To me it's all about building credibility for the future. When Sexton Lovecraft comes out people might google some more, and then they'll stumble across Crooked Features and it could get some renewed interest.
Prepare to be ignored, but don't take it personally.
